My documentary ‘Granite & Chalk’ was awarded the ‘Spirit of 1916’ prize at the Dublin Animation Film Festival.
I was commissioned to make the documentary by the Irish Film Board. It uses declassified intelligence documents to tell the little-known story of how two spies infiltrated the ranks of Irish rebels as they prepared for the 1916 Easter Rising.
The film has been bought by the national Irish broadcaster RTE and is currently touring festivals around the world, from Moscow to California (more information here).
The trophy is a design by Mateusz Wojtas depicting a moment of peace in the rebellion, when a ceasefire was called in St. Stephen’s Green so that the park keeper could feed the ducks.
Delighted to say Granite & Chalk is now an “award-winning” documentary! Thank you @DublinAnimation! pic.twitter.com/4w7QfnEIkx
